Our Viator Partnership
Vines & Plates is a participant in the Viator affiliate program. This means that when you click a link to a tour on Viator and subsequently make a booking, we earn a small commission from Viator on that booking. This commission is paid by Viator — it does not increase the price you pay. In fact, Viator prices are the same whether you come through our site or book directly.
How This Affects Our Editorial Independence
Our affiliate relationship with Viator does not affect our editorial decisions. We do not receive payment from tour operators for placement on Vines & Plates. We do not accept compensation for listing tours, and we do not modify our recommendations based on commercial relationships.
If a tour type in a region has no suitable options on Viator, we defer building a page for that tour type rather than listing a poor-quality product. This is both the right editorial policy and, over time, the better commercial strategy — travellers who trust us come back, and they refer others.
FTC / ASIC Compliance
In accordance with the US Federal Trade Commission guidelines and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) requirements for affiliate marketing disclosures, we clearly disclose our Viator affiliate relationship:
- On every commercial page (tour listing pages), in the disclosure box above the tour card grid
- In the footer of every page on the site
- In this dedicated disclosure page
How We Choose Tours
We list wine tours based on editorial merit: product quality, coverage of useful tour types per region, and relevance to travellers. Our methodology is described in full on our About page.
